Prairie Energy member-owners have reported recently receiving calls saying they would be disconnected in 30 minutes if they didn't pay their bill online. Scammers are getting smart, and trying to sound more and more like an employee of the Cooperative. Don’t be fooled by a phony caller. When in doubt, check it out! Hang up, and call the office immediately. Don't be fooled by a phony caller ID - never return a call to the call-back phone number, and never provide any payment or personal information.
We have ways of verifying your information within our systems - if we do contact a member, it will be during business hours, we will identify ourselves by first and last name, and under no circumstances will we demand payment with a threat of shutting off your power.
